I’m quite optimistic on the Pats this season. That defense is going to be really good, not Jets good, but should be superior to BUF and MIA.
Not sold on Jones, just don’t think he’s the guy, but if he progresses even marginally the Pats should be right in the thick of it in the East. Miami’s has tons of holes, no defense, can’t run the ball, etc. I look for NE put it on them Sunday night. Defenses that can stop the run should give NE trouble, but they’ll be deadly when they can get the ground game going.
It’s not like Rodgers was in his prime or anything, but he’s a massive upgrade to Wilson, who should cost the Jets a few games with his horrific decision making.

A tipped pass pick 6 and a TD after a fumble deep in Patriots territory were the Eagles' only touchdowns. Two of their FGs were over 50 yards. It was a good win for Philly, but I wouldn't write off New England and Belichick yet. Their defense is legit and their offense and special teams are an improvement over last year.
I don't understand all of the hate towards New England.
They lost Tom Brady -- the greatest quarterback of all time. Did people think they were going to still be this incredible dynasty? Especially when you have these competitive teams with excellent QB's in the conference.
They've been a plucky team ever since Brady left despite having below average offensive talent. Some of the lack of talent is obviously on Belichick, but honestly I don't think he's ever been the greatest talent evaluator on that side of the ball.
They've still had some good defenses and haven't seemed to miss much of a beat there.
I don't really get why people thought they'd be some bottom feeder this year. I guess the season is young, but there's a lot to like about them in a division where all the teams are pretty flawed (though none of them suck).

Obviously people thought they were going to still be perennial contenders when Brady and Phillip Dorset left. That was made clear by several people on this board. Brady was just another in the long line that time had passed and the machine would roll on.
I dunno what plucky means, but 25-27 is mediocre by any nfl standards, but especially so if you’re considered the best coach ever. Then it’s awful.
People thought that Cassell/Garapollo shit was real and not small sample based, is what it is.
but I think they can be OK this year too, doesn’t take much to compete once teams start dying off left and right. And NE doesn’t even have much talent anyway so injuries don’t hurt them as much as others.
If you think they saddled themselves with a low ceiling quarterback and not much offensive talent then that’s you hating on their management in a round about way

The nfl doesn’t say “hey Patriots, you had Brady for 19 so we’re gonna make you take Mac Jones as your QB and Kendrick Bourne is gonna be your #1 WR for the foreseeable future, OK?”
this isn’t the nba where talent is so scarce and 10 players run the league, you just manage the team better like some other teams have.

I think the opinion you’re trying to make is more of a betting opinion AV. The hate has gone too far and there is some value in current #s across diff markets.
But the way you are expressing that “ya know they don’t have much offensive talent, hard to hate too much”…You get to pick your own players in the NFL. You can trade for AJ brown like the eagles did to help hurts or hill to help Tua when on rookie deals, there is a lot of optionality for nfl teams.
